Vaioretto is a display typeface inspired by the elegance of italic calligraphy. It captures the essence of this art form, characterized by its high-contrast strokes and distinctive rightward slant. This traditional influence is enhanced with sharp angles and condensed forms, giving the typeface a modern edge.
A key experiment in this project involved reimagining the conventional angles at the stroke ends. Instead of the usual positive slant, I explored a negative 45-degree angle, introducing a unique dynamic to the letterforms. This combination of classic calligraphic elements with contemporary design principles creates a sophisticated and innovative typeface, ideal for display purposes.
